Well, I haven't updated this in a while, have I?
I have always been around a normal weight or a bit heavier. In middle school and high school I ate too much, but I didn't always eat healthy. Mom made decent food, but no one ever told me that fast food was bad for you. At my heaviest I may have been around a size 14, but I never felt a real urge to eat right and be healthy until later on. I was picked on throughout school didn't really have an urge to take care of myself.
A lot of that changed around the end of high school, but I still wasn't eating right. my weight fluctuated, but never badly. I hated exercise. It wasn't until I met my husband that I started gaining weight - I was eating the same food he was. I had to see photos of myself from my first convention weekend. My weight got to 169 and I didn't realize I was gaining until then.
I dieted until I was 152, then pretty much stayed that weight for several years. I exercise on and off, and was happy that I didn't really go over 152. Early this year I decided I didn't want to be 152 anymore and lost down to 133 through diet and step class. It took several months. I'm currently hovering at 138. I'm comfortable at this weight but I really want to lose another 10 lbs. I picked up the Zombies, Run! app for my shiny new iPhone and that is the one thing that makes me walk very consistently.
I enjoy costuming and that has been my primary motivation to get down to a lower weight. 125 is about as low as I can go and still be healthy. My frame is too wide for me to ever really be 'skinny', and I never want to be unhealthy.
My biggest obstacle has been my love of food. My husband is allergic to wheat, and everything Gluten-free seems to be higher in calories than normal food.
I've more or less stopped eating all fast food. Earlier this year, I stopped at a Burger King because I was starving and nothing else was fast/available. I was sick for hours after. I'll eat Wendy's occasionally, but I don't really have a craving for it anymore. My main 'treat' is Five Guys, since my husband loves them. I've learned to like burgers with no buns, but it's still pretty tasty.
We are owned by two cats. I sew, sketch and do other crafty things between work and housework.
