How long should I wait to exercise after eating a normal meal?

You should wait at least 30 minutes, and preferably an hour, after eating a "normal meal" before you do serious exercise. For best performance and nutrient utilization, eat 3 - 4 hours before your workout, drink water freely throughout the day, and then about 30 minutes before you start, have an easily digested high carbohydrate snack like 8 oz of juice. Consider that, before you exercise, your body needs time to digest, absorb and utilize the nutrients in your meal and, during digestion, the blood supply is diverted to your stomach instead of to your limbs, which makes working out difficult.
