Are you just having whey protein drinks? They aren't really that much different than having a piece of lean chicken or fish or cottage cheese or greek yogurt(same amount of protein). Unless you are seriously struggling with protein intake or short on time postworkout then there's no reason to be having whey protein shakes for every meal.
i eat a healthy balanced dinner every evening. i only drink the protein shake, which i use skim milk and yogurt with in the morning and at lunch.
Are you actually eating food for breakfast and lunch? Or relying on protein shakes? Plus how balanced is your dinner anyways? The only reason I am curious is because consuming too much protein adn cutting out carbs can make you miss very vital nutrients you get form fruits, veggies, and grains from rice, pasta, breads, beans, ect.
There's a thread in this forum about Jennifer Jolan's works. It sounds like you are basically doing her 12-hour diet, so I would give the thread a read. I do whey protein for breakfast usually - I am still working up to the 3 shakes and then normal dinner approach!
I have been doing whey protein shakes for two months now and I have lost about 20 lbs. BUT, I do NOT use them as a meal replacement. I use them in conjunction with eating real food and/or as a post-workout recovery snack.
I love fresh fruit protein smoothies (I use greek yogurt AND whey protein powder in mine) but I would caution against using them as a meal replacement or in leiu of eating real food. They are great and can be a great weight loss tool even if you don't use them as a meal replacement.
For example, I have one for breakfast with a bowl of steele cut oats. Then I have one as a post workout recovery drink. If I feel extra snacky ... I might have one with my evening snack (but I still eat a normal balanced macro-nutrient lunch and a high protein/low carb dinner). I am losing weight and still eating real food. I just thought I would throw that out there. BUT, I also was never a big breakfast person before so when I first started this I just did a protein shake for breakfast because I couldn't eat real food until I had been up a couple hours. But now I have to eat real food (probably a change in my metabolism since working out and eating more than 2 times a day).
Be careful with the protein shakes as they can be high in sugar and low in other key nutrients. I love them as a tool but I would caution as using them to replace real food. It's not something that you will likely be able to sustain over time and the key is to make sustainable life-style choices that you will be able to continue to do.
Good luck with your weightloss journey ... there is so much information out there and it is so hard to not only know what is right but what is right for YOU. Everyone's body is different ... and there isn't one thing that will work for every person. It has taken me MONTHS and MONTHS of tweaking my calories, my workouts, my macro-nutrient intake, my diet ... etc... to get to where I want to be.
