Hi everyone. I just joined. I was hoping that I could get a lil' advice as to what I should be doing as far as shaping my body goes. Since I'm new I'll give you a few stats.
I'm 25 years old, I'm 5'1", small frame, weigh 97.5 lbs. For the record I've never been over 100 - that's not my body's set point and I'm not looking to gain. I'm perfectly healthy the way I am.
I don't necessarily wanna lose weight either. I wanna lose my belly. I know you can't spot reduce, and the only way to lose fat is to diet and reduce calories, you have to lose fat from all over. Yadda Yadda... So this leaves me with a dilemma. What do I do?
My belly makes me look like I'm 2-3 months pregnant and it irritates me to NO end. The rest of me is small! I just wanna shrink it. It is the only part of my body that makes me self-conscious.

If you just want to improve your over all health and look, have you dont any research on what weights or circuit training would do for you?
No you cant spot reduce but you can reverse fat deposits in the order they form, if your starting to get more in the belly. You can do things that will rev your metabolism back up and it will shrink back down.
Best way to do this, increase your lean muscle, as it will take energy to maintain, and will pull form the small fat deposits that are forming.

Another good reference that will help a lot is this post
Stick to this advice and be amazed what will happen
hi am loseing weight but my best friend who got a lovely figure went through the same thing has u. she goes to the gym twice a week. her trainer say that she has to do exerisce that foece on her stomach e.g sit ups. (tone up ur musale in ur stomach) now her stomach is flat. ive started doin 10 sit up at night before bed and started to notice my belly is goin down and harder. i hope this helps
Do you drink a lot of carbonated drinks? Eat gassy foods? I would just be aware of what you may be eating/drinking that could make you retain water or bloat. You are thin so I cant imagine you stomach could be extending to that extent. When I was at my thinnest weight, my stomach was flat. Yet only in the morning lol by mid day I felt like I had a stomach as well and it drove me mad. But I also drank a lot of diet soda and a lot of fiber. The fiber isnt a bad thing but it still contributed to the problem. Anywho, just putting that out there
Right before I LOST this 20 POUNDS! I had that too! (: It got better, and my family has noticed it, as my face and my mom said my back is getting slimmer (but I don't see it at all!) But anwyays. (: It's all excersise and others said situps, jackknifes, and crunches.(: I do them twice when I go to the gym and I have my little cousins sit on my feet while I do situps at home. Then we do jumping jacks. (:
I have a 7 year old little trainer, aha!
This may just be another one of the reasons being short can suck. Not only are you thin, but short. You have a lot of intestines to cram into a smaller space along with other vital organs. Not much we shorties can do about that. As much as you may want that "model" flat stomach, the way your body is designed may not ever allow you to accomplish that. I know, not necessarily what you want to hear. Like another poster mentioned, my stomach also looks best first thing in the morning, but I eat lots of fruit, veggies and other high fiber foods giving what I see as round belly. Fortunately others may not see you that way. I guess what it comes down to is we just have to be happy we are healthy and accept the fact that we may never get that perfect look we were going for.
Well, you are technically underweight (18.4 BMI) and that can give the appearance of a pot belly. You know, starving kids in third world countries? That kind of look.
I know you said you don't want to gain but that may be the only solution to your problem.
And take jewelerdave's advice and start lifting weights. You'll have to start eating more to do it.
BTW, this is what the Mayo Clinic says about your weight/BMI (bolding is mine):
Being underweight may weaken your immune system and put you at greater risk of osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor to determine what — if anything — you can do to achieve a healthy weight, or to address unexpected weight loss. To support good health:
Embrace healthy eating as a lifestyle by choosing a variety of nutrient-rich foods including fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Eat between-meal healthy snacks — whole-grain crackers and nuts, for example — to increase the calories in your diet.
Exercise. Your doctor may recommend strength training to promote lean muscle development and increase your weight in a healthy way.
.. I am in a similar situation as emmalee, but I'm not that short. I'm 5'6 and not that thin, but my pot belly is the bain of my weight gain! I look pregnant and am not (helpful women offer their seat to me thinking that I'm expecting - it's embarrassing!)
I am not extremely overweight but my stomach looks pregnant. It's the biggest weight gain area i have on me
... I wonder how to get my gut more muscled? or firm as opposed to paunchy
I will try doing more weights and try to keep up some daily cardio
I look 3 month pregnant too, and i am a guy. In a way, we are similar. Although I am bit overweight at 190 lbs for my 5'10 frame, all my other body places look quite okay except my belly. I was really letting it go a couple of month prior, and I had too many fried chickens (still miss them). Now I want to lose my belly, so I joined cc about two weeks ago.
I think for you and me the best approach is to maintain a balance of strength training and cardio workout, specifically we can build up our muscle, and lose the fat. The result would be more toned body and more defined muscle. I know I have a fantastic six pack ab, it's just there are fat covering it. And I shall melt the fat away! let's do it together!
Hi im 15 and I look like im pregnant but im not what should I do im scared this has never happened ?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
