Hey everyone. I currently work out about six times a week. I do weights for about 20-30 minutes (alternating muscle groups for different days of course), abs for about 15 minutes, and cardio on the eliptical for about 45 minutes. I was thinking about keeping the weights and abs, but doing cardio twice a day in 30 minute sessions (totaling one hour). Is this ok, or is it too much cardio? I also bowl for about an hour and a half 4-5 times a week. My daily caloric intake is usually around 1500-1700.

my trainer said that cardio is very good for you but you never want to overdue any exercise. If you bowl you are burning about 110 cal. a game if your not slacking and your always moving. Cardio is good for the blood flow and your heart so maybe you should ask someone at the gym you go to for sure but I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with doing it twice a day for an hour total.
I usually get more answers to questions like this on the fitness forum, all the "fitness gurus" are very helpfull with these type of questions. So if you don't get much feedback you might want to re-post there.
Twice a day for 30 minutes, will give you a total of 60 as opposed to 45, which means more calories burned. Also you may want to think about adding HIIT while doing your cardio, it will maximize your fat burn.

I think it is fine. I do cardio twice a day everyday. Every morning I do an hour on the elliptical machine at 10+ mph. Two days a week I go back in the afternoon and do another hour on the elliptical at 10+ mph. Five days a week I go back in the afternoon and do a half an hour of running using an interval program with speeds ranging from 6.5-7.2 mph and inclines from 1-5% grade. I also do 1/2 hour of toning 5 days a week, and 25 minutes of weight-lifting 3 days a week. I don't think it is possible to do too much cardio, as long as you are eating enough to prevent your body from going into starvation mode. Also, make sure to keep yourself well-hydrated.
I don't know how many calories someone your height and weight needs to eat to lose weight, without going into starvation mode. I am a 5'1" 104lb female and I eat about 1800 calories a day to maintain my weight. Your calorie range may be a little low for that level of cardio depending on how intense your exercise sessions are.
In my opinion, you aren't eating enough for your age, gender, weight and activity level. You should be eating much more... what does CC recommend? I'm sure it's higher.
I'm 28, female and eat an average of 1829 calories a day with only 3-4 days cardio and 3 days strength training, full body and have lost 65 lbs since June. Your body needs the fuel for activity or else it will result in your metabolism slowing down from not getting everything in needs while pushing yourself very hard.
