I would recommend everything that isn't too high on alcohol and if it is at least not to high on sugar, don't mix cola with alcoholics that's really a caloriebomb I guess.
This week I bought some Beck's Premium Light beer. It has only 64 cals per bottle, a lot less than most light beers. It tastes pretty good although I don't think it has much alcohol in it.
10 ounces of wine is equal to two glasses. You either have a very large glass or you pour yourself two! Sorry about the late (3 years!) reply. I am just looking up info on wine and dieting.

Well...alcohol in itself has calories and, if my memory is correct, causes your liver to produce acetate. This acetate is burned as fuel before anything else in your body (fat, glycogen, etc) and can hinder fat-burning for 24 hours to several days. So alcohol while dieting is a lose-lose situation no matter what you choose to drink. I don't think the carb content of alcohol has much to do with it at all. Low-carb beers was just a clever marketing scheme. Low carb alcohol will have the same negative affect on your diet progress.
As long as you aren't in a calorie surplus its still the same. As in, if you cut out other calories to make room for the calories in your alcoholic beverage, there won't be any change; you won't gain any more weight. There is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol in moderation as long as you work it into your calorie numbers. Although it suppresses fat burning in the short term (which, you do realize, CARBS do as well?), it actually EVENS OUT over the course of 24 hours.
Also, alcohol itself will never get stored as fat (the part about it being burned first in your body was correct, in inference of the result was not). Regardless, you should count it in with your calories
So drink your alcohol responsibly within your calorie target, and enjoy it.
couple things I have learned about alcohol.
our bodies will try to consume and metabolize alcohol FIRST before all other foods taken during the same period. The reason for this is two fold. One, it is a super carb and like sugar just gets burned. Second, the body considers it a poison and wants to purge it.
All regular metabolic processes for food digestion stop, while the body works on the alcohol. So, it is best to drink alcohol WHILE NOW eating a bunch of junk. The junk will just stick around.
Second thing is, if one is working to eat well, to eat enough calories for nutrition and body maintenance, even for fat loss maintenance MINUS x, then one shouldn't count all the alcohol calories as GOOD calories. Don't let too much of your daily, be alcohol. It is probably best in such a situation to make sure you get say 80%+ of your daily required calories from real foods, and then end up going OVER with the alcohol.
True alcohol is best, wine, grains, vodka, etc. Then come the beers, then the mixed drinks (since they usually have a bunch of sugary juice or tonic in them)
I think the general sense is, all things considered, that alcohol will slow fat oxidation, but I don't think SOME alcohol will have that effect at all.
Budweiser Select Premium 55 beer. Only 55 calories per bottle. I drink four on Friday nights, only 220 calories total.
