around the house/garden!
I got all my messages (groceries) yesterday, and set about my weekly pleasure of making soups and baking...I don't like tinned soup Bleh!
So, the soup making went well, and I decided to just stay in the kitchen and do my baking also.
I had to open a new packet of cornflour...no big deal...Right!
However, the glue holding the packet shut was particularly well stuck, and so I had to use a little more force than usual.
WELL...it only went 'puff' not 'PUFF'...I was quite amazed at how far cornflower will travel without much effort, it went up the front of the kitchen unit doors, up/over the wall and tiles to the right of me, all over the kettle, into the tea caddy, all over the work surface and covered me from my head to waist!
I just stood there laughing! and then spent 1/2 an hour cleaning it all up...or so I thought, went into the kitchen this morning, and it looks like I am going to have to go over all the surface it made contact with again.
I did still manage to get all my baking done...yum!
Feel free to share your mishaps :D
*sneaks a banana peel into corn-dusted kitchen.. turns on banana cam.. ready for more fun*
Monday morning I dropped an entire container of oatmeal, it dropped onto the edge of a shelf.. the top popped off, and the oatmeal spilled on the floor and down the steps..
When those things happen I always whisper "thank you Lord" so God doesn't think he got one over on me.. no sir .. not me.
I aaaalmost did something particularly genius: Wanted to start my coffee (it's a nespresso) and I had put the capsule in, and thought to myself: oh, I know how I'll save some time, I'll start the drip, and THEN reach out to the cupboard to get the coffee mug.
..and put it under the drip
My daughters prefer their training potties to the toddler seats on our actual toilets. They're easier to access when the poor dears really have to go.
You see where this is going, right? I was brushing my one daughters teeth while the other one was using the potty. Well, she lost her balance and was about to trip over it, but I was close enough to catch her... except she got caught on my dress... and when she moved, I ended up tripping over the damn thing. Yep, covered in pee. Ruined a perfectly good pair of shoes. That was two days ago.
I accidentally turned my stand mixer up to high after adding cocoa powder to the batter. I'm still finding hidden cocoa in the kitchen, months later.
And there was the time that I thought it would be a good idea to wipe out my immersion blender with my finger while it was still plugged in. I hit the button to turn it on a little too soon and my finger didn't make it out of the way in time.
Meta: My son hasn't gotten the concept that when standing and peeing, you can't turn your body without the pee going everywhere. There is a pair of my husband's tennis shoes in the trash can right now due to this. I feel your pain. :)
Ah, misery loves company! Thanks for the empathy and the laugh! ;)
I was cooking breakfast on the stove top during a blustery winter day. I turned to speak with my daughter and leaned back against the stove, enjoying the heat on my back during such a cold morning.
But soon it started getting too hot. Then I smelled smoke.
"Emily, am I on fire?" I asked while turning around.
"Oh my god you are!" she replied.
"That's nice" I said and calmly started beating out the flames with a dish towel.
Ruined that sweatshirt, and myself and Emily still laugh about it today.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
