Sad to say, three days of eating 2300-2400 later, I desperately want to cut back. I've taken notes on reasons to eat 2500+, both from this site and others, and have to read it millions of times a day in order to not cut back, but I can't seem to add, cuz my ED literally pulls me away. I think I'm actually supposed to eat 3000+ because I exercise (don't want to cut back since I need to keep fit) and am under 21. I'm stuck in the mentality of 2500 max instead of min.
Any recovering/recovered people feel the same way? I've even stopped weighing myself... Help? What did you do to motivate yourself to eat? Any success stories with body image/recovery issues?
I also look pregnant today... :(

I am in the same situation. I do not think I have met my goal in days. It is just as if I can't bother to care.
I think the key somewhere is to just suck it up and do it, but really- it is easier said than done.
How much do you eat/supposed to eat? Do you exercise and count calories? How long have you been recovering for?
I actually don't really want to 'recover', but I really want to eat and not eat at the same time. Conflicting, I know. Basically I WANT to eat a ton of calories but am scared to. If anyone can offer proof that eating a ton of calories 3000+, and have their metabolism go really high and not keep gaining weight, please tell me!
You can only fix metabolism but stopping all exercise and eating at least 3000. We can tell you our experience but they may not reflect what will happen to you when you start eating more. You can count calories if you want, but it is easy to under eat. Also if you want to exercise you have to eat those calories back plus more. Your body will now what to do and exercise will not help you develop more muscle and less fat.
You anxiety with gaining is something you need to control, is there a therapist you can see? Weight gain does come with self loathing and bloating, but It does go away. Dolls_eyes has said it correctly you need to suck it up and push through, recovery is one of the hardest things you can put your self through.
why do you need to stop all exercise? Won't your metabolism still increase if you eat a lot but exercise moderately?
I feel so similar to you :/ My target calories are meant to be around 2,400 but the past few days I've been desperately wanting to lower it since I'm convinced I'm being overfed (in IP) and that the dietitian's calculated my calories wrong (I'm only 5'1). Today I had a weigh-in and that freaked me out because I'm gaining too fast, so I've had about 1,800 cals today. I know I'll still gain weight on this amount so I'm not too panicked, but I know if I could I'd restrict more. The thing keeping me eating this amount is both the constant supervision I have, and mostly knowing that if I don't eat and gain, I'll be kept in hospital. IP has really terrified me, so I guess it's a good motivator in a way. Sorry I can't be of any more help though :/ Just thought it might be nice to know you're not alone in what you're feeling, and I really wish you the best of luck with recovering :)

Your metabolism won't benefit from the extra exercise because your body is trying to fix up everything else that has gone wrong in your body from starving it. Sure you can exercise but you need to take in then 4000 at least.
On top you said "only" fix metabolism by stopping exercise. So do you mean that as long as I eat back the 4000, the metabolism will still go high (as in higher than pre-ED)?
As long as your eating enough, exercise shouldn't have a negative impact (assuming non-excessive amounts).
70 minutes a day OK?
Metabolism will not go any higher than your body will allow it to go. So it return to what you had pre-ed, but not any higher. Oh if you exercise for 70 mins you need to take in more than 4000 btw
I don't want to bombard you with questions, but if I'm under 5 foot, do I still need to eat 2500+ calories, especially if this is the second time around gaining a few pounds?

Apparently, according to what I've read, we recovering people need 2500+ calories (teens 3000+) until we get our periods. I know I'm not in the best place to advise, but it's what I've read, so it's what I'll do. And as rice_paper_dolls says, since I exercise, I'll TRY to go to 4000+. I'm working on it, and know how hard it is, so good luck to you too!
basically you just need to eat back the calories you burnt with exercise to not has sub opt recovery. You can go to gwyneth olwyn's site, she has a lot of information to help you on the road to recovery. She is well researched in this topic and has studies to back what she is saying.
