Usually on Friday night I unwind with drinks and card games. I'm not in my 20s anymore and starting to think that this undos all the good I do during the week. I have red wine, light beer, not the fruity drinks but probably have about 7-8 drinks in about 5 or 6 hours, that's a lot of calories. I feel so guilty about it....but is it ok to do this once a week? I don't have any other splurges during the week. I'm not really losing weight though.
Havent you answered your own question? If your goal is to lose some weight, then splurging weekly will mess with your goal. Determine what you really want and then go after it.
i would say maybe not every week, but ofc you have to unwind sometimes. I personally dont drink and it saves SO many problems. My mum CRAVES a good glass of wine on a stressful day, whilst i crave options hot chocolate and lots of Scrubs eps!
Why not just do extra exercise throughout the day on Friday, and maybe some extra on saturday (hangover permitting!) to counter act it a bit?
I don't drink but 7-8 drinks in 5-6 hours seems like a lot. I say a glass of wine should be fine if that's how you choose to unwind but 7-8 drinks is a ton of calories. Go 2 weeks without this drinking escapade and see how that effects your weight loss. Seeing the results may encourage you to drink less or not at all if it's hindering your weight loss.
honestly it shouldn't be undoing your whole week... if you think about it logically, say you drink 7 to 8 glasses of red wine at 80 calories a glass.... 640 calories, yes it might be a lot for just beverages but if you have been eating at a deficit of 500 - 700 calories then you are just at maintenance calories for a day, you aren't drinking above and beyond your daily burn - not enough to have it undo a weeks worth of eating below maintenance. it might slow you down a bit but unless you are drinking 3500 calories above your daily burn your whole week isn't undone. i'm the same way and need a night out (which also involved 8 cocktails or so) with friends after a long week and even the next day I'll sometimes have a cheat eat day... it isn't coming off quick but I've lost about 25 lbs already and it keeps me sane! (plus the cheat days of eating seem to rev my metabolism more when I go back to the days of cal counting after)
I'm afraid I'll never understand the concept of a cheat day. It makes it sound like eating as I do normally is some sort of punishment. But it isn't at all. I love eating healthily and watching my calories, feels like a treat to my body.
Im with you girl.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
