I'm 16, 5'4, female and weigh 100 pounds, about a year ago everyone was calling me fat, which I was at 140pounds, then I went on a diet, restricted calories, I eat the same foods everyday now, consisting of virtually no fat. I lost my period , not had it for over a year (when I began losing weight.) I am currently eat 900-1000calories mon-fri, and 1500-1800 on weekends, make my family less suspicious and for some reason makes me lose more weight, I'm really scared and dont know what to do, but i dont want to seek help as im scared of gaining weight, what do i do?
im also isolated as my friends were talking about me, saying i was anorexic and now completely ignore me, so i dont have many people i can talk to, im really scared...
First, yes your period will return when you continuously eat normally again. You need to choose a person to go to for help. Maybe your mother, or an aunt, your school counselor, a close friend of the family, or a priest / rabbi / etc. Talking about it will help.
I was anorexic at 15 myself, and it can be really hard to deal with. Remember to listen to your body, trust yourself, accept yourself, and love yourself.
When talking to someone about this, tell them when it started, what behaviors your going through, what physically is happening to you (include your loss of period here), what is happening to you emotionally (how you currently feel, and how you feel when you eat), and how they can help and support you.
You know you have the problem, that is the first step. The next steps maybe scary, but ultimately it what's best.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions about how I dealt with my anorexia please ask, and I will tell you anything that might help.
It sounds like your friends aren't very good to you. That must be awful--I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can appreciate that you don't want to tell people about losing so much weight, but at the same time you could have serious health problems that will plague you for the rest of your life if you don't seek help. The fact that you lost your period is a sign that your body is hurting, and it would be really good if you could take care of yourself by reaching out for help.
When you say that you are trying not to make your family suspicious, it makes me think that they care about you and want you to be healthy. Do you think you could talk to anyone in your family about losing so much weight? They surely have noticed how skinny you are, and it will help you immeasurably to be able to be open and honest, no matter what happens. I know it's scary but if you truly want to get better you need to talk to someone who can help you.
Good luck, Girl! Sending you love and support -- let us know what happens. <3
