I know that my being cold all the time is a consequence of too low body fat and what I did when starving myself, but I wonder why it always seems the worst after I eat?
That's when it gets borderline unbearable, I feel like my very bones are cold and no amount of outside warmth can fix it.
It makes me dread eating when I'm out and can't have something warm afterwards, since when I'm home I top every meal/snack off with coffee, tea, or even warmed up milk.
Does anyone know why this happens after eating in particular?
This same problem happens to me all the time. It even happens in the summer and everyone makes fun of me. I once heard that it may be caused by the blood flow going to your stomach to begin digestion, which takes away the blood flow from the rest of your body? Who knows.
jgoode88....I think that is pretty close to right. That's what I've heard.
I FEEL FOR YOU I AM JUST THE OPPOSITE, I GET REAL HOT WHEN EATING THAT I START SWEATING, PLUS I GET HOT IN THE WINTER AND NEVER WEAR A COAT, I WISH I WASN'T LIKE THAT ITS MISERABLE,PLUS EVEN WHEN I WAS A FEW POUNDS LITTER THAT WOULD HAPPEN,WONDER WHATS GOING ON, THE DRS DON'T SEEM TO KNOW, I HAD CANCER 5 YEARS AGO AND THAT SHOULDN'T BE THE PROBLEM,DON'T KNOW,BUT WISH I HAD A CURE,CANT TAKE SOY PRODUCTS
I used to have that problem...I would be freezing all day, especially after I ate. Funny how putting on close to 20 pounds fixed it, but its not worth it. My body fat was under 10% for sure more like 6 or 7 at the time. Now I don't want to know what it is.
When you eat, the bloodflow to your digestive system increases to three times the normal amount so there is less flowing around the rest of your body upping your temp. Basically if your body was a house, the blood is like the heating system. It gets turned down to low when you eat and your house doesn't have much insulation (fat) to help keep your temp stable. Sorry, I am really into analogies today for some reason!
It does help to eat lots of small meals instead of a few big ones. It makes it where there aren't so many peaks and valleys in your temp.
Finally some answers! I have the same thing happen to me. It doesn't bother me a whole lot since I usually just put on a jacket or go take a warm shower after lunch but I'm glad that it's not a "just me" thing.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
