This is a very specific, somewhat odd post, but since I a) cook a lot and b) cook a lot of chicken dishes, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this:
Oftentimes, I will make a chicken-inclusive dish, for example:
This past Monday, I made whole wheat penne topped with sauteed chicken, broccoli and marinara sauce. It tasted GREAT when I ate it fresh. However, I went to reheat it last night (on the stove, not the micro) and while the rest of the dish tasted ok, the chicken tasted...funky. Not rotten, just stale, and odd. Metalic, almost. This tends to happen to me A LOT when I reheat chicken. Not beef, not fish or shrimp or pork. Just chicken.
Am I bonkers? Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there a solution? I was so annoyed because I had to throw away what I thought was a decent dinner, and then make myself something new on top of it.
I love to sautee chicken by butterflying the breast and cooking in olive oil in the stove top for 5 minutes a side. This cooks it perfectly without drying it out. I often use the second half cold on a salad, but sometimes reheat it by microwaving it for 1 minute on 70% power. If you do it much longer or on any higher setting, it dries out and gets a tinny taste.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
