Other than avocado? Any less fatty options? ^^;
Not really less fatty, but it's how I prefer my tuna.
Add some black olives in there too, mmmmmm so good!
I liked mustard when I ate tuna... but I like mustard with everything...
Plain yogurt (greek, regular...)
Laughing cow cheese
And my recent love: Fromage frais/Fresh cheese
Try a vinaigrette like balsamic and olive oil. Add some green onions and celery and you have protein and good fats with a bit of crunch and flavor.
seriously? How can you not like mayo? when is the last time you tried it? regular, not diet.
you can always mix salad dressing, vinegar or whatever but mayo is the best!
Fat Free Ranch dressing!!
I've never liked mayo either. Except when I was pregnant... go figure.
Cream cheese (reduced fat).
maybe hummus? :s
I always eat my tuna with hummus. Adds a great texture and a great zest.
I've recently also started enjoying salsa with it. My dad used salad dressings as well.
I love to mix my tuna with some plain yogurt and curry powder (I've tried mayo, I'm just not a fan); the yogurt has a kind of sour tangy-ness and the curry gives it a nice kick with a whole host of flavors from the blend of spices. It also works well with chopped chicken breast. I'll put this on bread with salsa, and fresh coriander for a really tasty sandwich (sometimes I'll add avocado if we have them).
I'm a little insulted by this...I would never touch the diet mayo, and I'm just not a fan of mayo...maybe it's the combination with vinegar? idk....
Anyway, today I had a little too much chocolate and avocado, and I wasn't really feeling the fatty option, but I needed some protein to balance my diet out, and my easiest fix was tuna, canned. I looked at all the suggestions (thank you everyone, by the way!), and I tried yogurt and curry. It was really good! I think next time I will have some hummus prepared ahead of time for a tuna fix =]
i love tuna, any way really, i love mayo too
i make a faux egg salad w/tofu mixed w mayo, its really good, i just cant digest eggs altho i love them if u wanna try that! but in the end, its jsut 1 day, rt, eat what you like!
Oh great idea! I normally have silken tofu on hand for my protein fix, but I finished it the other day...but what an interesting idea for another day! =]
This may sound weird, but I've mixed salmon with salsa before. Some people bake this into a salmon loaf with other ingredients, but I am a college student so I just mix salmon and salsa together and eat it with bread or in a salad.
Maybe it's the Texas in me. :)
Sakura-i use firm tofu btw and im obsessed w it! lol
Melissa-do u mean canned salmon or fresh?
I'm your typical Asian, so I love uncooked tofu that's softer XD Never tried firm tofu raw...interesting concept haha. I hear a lot of people use it in baking too, though. I'd like to try that sometime.
I know you said "besides avocado" but you might consider this: I throw an avocado in my food processor with almond milk, spices (garlic powder, onion powder, salt pepper etc) and a squeeze of lime and then process it until it is smooth. It makes a great mayo substitute and has around 21 cals per Tablespoon. I like to eat it with veggie burgers or sandwiches.
you can try using lemon, with some caviar and cumin.
lemon juice that is...and cumin powder.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
