Calories in a slice of New york pizza?
Hi all! I love the pizza here and would like to know how many calories (approximately) are in a slice of plain (cheese only) ny-style (italian).

Sometimes smaller than that. I am concerned with the calories and would really appreciate a range (ex: 250-300 or w/e) or approximate number of calories in them (counting crust although I do not eat it).

crust. For a slice about 7 inches long, and 4-5 inches wide measured

When I have pizza in NYC I count one slice as two on C-C. So I'd just enter "Cheese Pizza" but as two slices instead of one. It's about 280 calories.
Did you get to see the one i showed? The bigger ones that are thin that are ny italian pizza (I apologize that I want to find this out badly but I want to make sure I'm not inaccurate). Not the small pizza-hut like ones.
Well, I can't be sure it's accurate, but I saw the pic and it looked just the same size as the kind I get (which is bigger than the small Pizza Hut ones). So it was more as a reference that that's how I add them.
I would say around 400 for a cheese slice. I think that is about the amt of cal in a large thin crust slice at Papa John's or the Big New Yorker at Pizza Hut (Yeah, I like pizza!) I've looked it up before that way to figure ut the cal count for the NY pizza place near my house. Dab the grease off the top w/ napkins -- It saves up to 100 cal!!!!
You think that making it 600 calories at tops w/o crusts is a good estimation? (Yes i read all of your posts)
600 is safe probably safe. Unless it's the kind that is really big (like hangs off both sides of a paper plate) and the grease soaks thru the plate -- then it's probably around 800. Sad.
800 w/o crusts? Its from a local restaurant but there is little - not alot of grease/oil stuff that you could tell is excessive by looking at it (no "puddles on the pizza"). If there is I usually flip it over quick and get it off or gently place a napkin above the area and quickly remove it.
So 600 would be safe for my description, yes? I hate to be obsessive about things like this.
I think that Sbarro's pizza is the size of a typical New York style slice.
For the record, a cheese slice at sbarro's is 500 calories. I think that's true for most cheese pizza slices that you get at pizzarias.
Sbarro's has some styles resembling new york-italian pizza but not the main thin crust. Their slices are usually alot bigger (and thicker) from what I eat (Sbarros is good though, I've had it a bunch of times in the past).
NY pizza has way less calories than greasy pizza hut or pap johns. I would guess about 200 to 250 a slice.
I have a friend who works in a pizza place in Rego Park and based on what he says is a typical slice of cheese pizza its around 680 cals. So if I was recording it for myself I would estimate between 600-800 calories per slice because of the amount of cheese.
Well, if it isn't quite as large as a slice from sbarro's then I would use their info and subtract a little. So if a cheese slice is 500, I would say 450 to be on the safe side =) Which also happens to be about the same as 2 slices of a medium cheese pizza from a local place I go to.
